How To Save Your Marketing Money By Using Postcards

Postcards can be the most inexpensive way to market your business.

I started postcard marketing a few years back. Before that, I was using sales letters to market my business.

So why use postcards?

  • Mailing postcards costs less than letters (24 cents vs. 39 cents)
  • Your sales message can be easily read (without opening an envelope)
  • Postcards take less time to produce (no need for folding letters and sealing envelopes).
  • Your copy is short and more straight to the point.
  • Using postcards for online marketing can possibly be less expensive than online advertising.

After paying for advertising online, I realized that some campaigns were cheaper to run offline than online. That’s because there are some niches that are highly popular online, but not so much offline. I’ve read on some newsletter that some online campaigns are running for more than $50 a click. Even if that click does not produce a sale, the advertiser still has to pay. That’s just for viewing your full ad. Why spend $50 if a person can spend 24 cents with a highly targeted list?

By using postcards, you can print them easily at home. You can get white postcards and print them on your inkjet printer. From my personal experience, if you plan to print postcards for the long term, make sure you have an efficient printer. I ended up getting a budget printer just for printing out postcards. A few months later, I realized that the budget printers cost more in the long run. I had a friend that worked at the company that made my printer and he told me that the companies make more money off of ink than the printer itself. I heard that before, but I didn’t realize the impact until I started to count the cost to print each card.

So I ended up buying a laser printer that saves so much time and money. The lower print quality of my laser printer even surpasses the normal quality of my inkjet. If you want to see how much the laser printers costs, you can click here.
